One month ago today, I landed in Iceland for a weeklong adventure that opened the door for lifelong memories.
This trip was years in in the making – coordinating the schedules of a bunch of talented wedding photographers from around the globe took some effort. But it was so worth it, because traveling with other photographers means no one minds stopping for you to take a picture of anything you fancy, everyone’s willing to pose wherever you want them to because the light or scenery is perfect in that spot, and we all got copious amounts of gorgeous images of ourselves and each other in the process. Not to mention that Katie Jane, Elissa, Lauren, Kandise and Andre, and of course my husband Matthew, are all excellent people and fun traveling companions!
The light in Iceland was amazing. The weather would change quickly from sunny to overcast to snow flurries or hail and then back to clear again, but I loved all of it. This trip was a mix of personal vacation, travel adventure, and photography shoot out/ business learning exchange. A little bit of everything, and the photos I took reflect that mix of fun, work, people, scenery, portraits, snapshots, and in between. I somehow ended up taking 4 different cameras with me, 5 if you count my iPhone – a waterproof disposable camera for the Blue Lagoon, my brand new Lomo LC Wide toy camera, my beloved Mamiya 645 Pro TL, and a Fuji XT1. All of these photos are film, except for the Northern Lights photos where the film didn’t quite do justice to the magical light display we witnessed.
There’s a list of links to highlights and resources at the end of the post, or feel free to comment or contact me for any questions about our trip, or to set up your own destination photo session. You can see the full set of photos here!
