Silviya and Jacob got engaged two weeks before their elopement at Beverly Hills Courthouse, and are planning a bigger wedding on their 1 year anniversary next year. I’ve been wanting to photograph more elopements, so I was thrilled when they contacted me, and even more delighted to meet their lovely parents. Silviya’s mom came all the way from Bulgaria, and they included a Bulgarian wedding tradition of kicking a little bucket that has a red and white flower in it, and supposedly whichever flies out of the basket first determines if the couple’s first child will be a boy or a girl. The ceremony was short but very touching – the judge even got emotional at one point – and then we had lots of time for portraits nearby. Silviya and Jacob were so cute, sweet, and hilarious (you get a glimpse of Silviya’s big personality in the photos) and I’m so happy I got to celebrate the start of their marriage with them!
