After weddings, my two favorite subjects to photograph are roller derby and concerts. Lucky for me, this post has some of both! This was my second year photographing the unique charity fundraiser TwentyWonder to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles and was once again an amazing night of music, comedy, roller derby, and more!
For the last two years, TwentyWonder’s Carnival of the Mind has been hosted by the LA Derby Dolls in their Doll Factory, and kicked off with a short derby bout by the LA Ri-ettes and the San Diego Derby Dolls. Then it was on to lots of other entertainment, including karaoke at the {RV}IP Lounge, Tic-Tac-Toe with Steve-O , Joel Hodgson raffling off awesome prizes, musical performances by Jackshit, the Watson Twins, Lynda Kay, and Dave Alvin. The evening ended with the absolutely amazing Lucha VaVoom – some Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling interspersed with beautiful burlesque dancing.
